This is not a newsletter about writing.

There are enough of those.

This is not a newsletter about how to sell your book to a publisher.

Enough of those, too.

While this is ostensibly a newsletter about writing and publishing books, it’s more a newsletter about power.

The kind that comes from:

  • Being quoted.

  • Being asked to speak at events.

  • Being the undisputed authority in your field.

  • Being the one people feel lucky to be able to hire.

Each week I’ll peel back the covers to show you what I’ve learned in my decades in the book publishing industry—writing and selling books to HarperCollins and Simon & Schuster, having a book hit the New York Times list and then publishing over 60 Wall Street Journal and USA Today bestselling books for entrepreneurs.

I don’t candy coat and I don’t have a ton of patience for dreamers.

Expect the truth, a sometimes sardonic tone and more references to Taylor Swift than you possibly want.

If you’re interested in your book being more than just volunteer work but instead something that makes you into the authority in your field and helps you establish your legacy, subscribe.

There are plenty of other newsletters for the dreamers.
